Shopify Fees

Shopify Payments

Shopify has its own payment provider, Shopify Payments, which integrates directly with the seller's Shopify checkout. Sellers who use Shopify Payments pay the credit card fee for each payment processed but no additional transaction fees. According to Shopify, the credit card fee charged vary according to the Shopify selling plan you are enrolled in. Please reference the Shopify Payments portion of the Shopify Pricing page for more details.

MarginDriver integrates with Shopify directly to retrieve the Shopify Payments' credit card fees from the Shopify API and apply them directly to the Fees & Allowances column of each applicable Shopify order. This eliminates the need for the user to enter an estimated value in the Credit Card Fee column of the MarginDriver Fee and Currency Settings page. In fact, the actual Shopify fee amount will override any value arrived at using the estimated percentage from the Settings page.

The example below shows a Shopify Payments' fee of $1.29 applied to the Fees & Allowances column of this order.

Third Party Gateways (non-Shopify Payments)

Shopify charges transaction fees for each order a seller processes using a third party payment gateway (non-Shopify Payments). Like credit card rates, the transaction fees vary depending on the Shopify selling plan that the seller is enrolled in. These fees are charged to the same credit card account the seller uses to pay the Shopify subscription fee. As such, MarginDriver does not have access to these fees.

If a seller uses a third party gateway to process some, or all, of it's credit card payments, the seller should enter an estimated amount into the Credit Card Fee field in the MarginDriver Fee and Currency Settings page. This should be a percentage amount that includes both the transaction fees from Shopify and the credit card fees from the third party gateway/processor.
