Cost Settings

The Cost Settings page gives MarginDriver users the ability to provide estimated product and shipping costs when these values are not available to be pulled via API.

Unique product and shipping cost values can be set by sales channel and date at the user's discretion.

Cost Selection

Product and shipping cost estimates are set independently by using the Cost Selection toggle.

Date Selection

Costs can be set to apply to take effect immediately (Current Settings) or to apply to all orders within a specific date range (View/Edit History).

If the user selects Current Settings, the date range selection tool will be unavailable. All edits to the cost values will take effect immediately and apply to all future orders until a subsequent change is made.  If the user selects View/Edit History, the date range selection tool will be available and the user can identify any date range of her choice and apply edits to orders from those specific dates. 

Product Costs

Product Cost By SKU

Channel Selection

Unique product costs can be applied to all sales channels or to individual sales channels at the user's discretion.

Choosing All Channels from the Channel Selection menu will display all SKUs and the corresponding Product Cost values for the applicable date range. These values will apply to all channels that otherwise do not have a channel-specific cost assigned to them. 

Choosing an individual sales channel will display all SKUs and the corresponding the Product Cost values applicable to that sales channel and date range.

Date Range 

If the user selects View/Edit History, the date range selection tool will be available and the user can identify any date range of her choice to view existing values and/or apply edits to orders from those specific dates. 

Show Costs

For any given sales channel or date selection, users can choose to view:
  1. All Product Costs
  2. Only Missing Costs (only those SKUs that do not have a product cost value for the applicable sales channel and date range)
  3. Only Actual Costs (only product costs that have an actual value assigned to them - not assigned by the Default Product Cost Per Order)

Export

The Export button will generate a .csv file export of the data in the available in the product table according to the current filters. 

Product Table

The product table displays the following data for each product which can be unique to each sales channel:
  1. Effective Date - if the View/Edit History is chosen, clicking on the down arrow in this column will reveal the product data for each individual date in the selected range
  2. SKU
  3. Product Name
  4. Brand
  5. Category
  6. Supplier
  7. Product Cost

Edit Product

To edit any of these values for the applicable sales channels and/or date range, the user must click the edit icon .  Clicking the edit icon will display the pop up where the user can edit the product data, including the cost. 

If the user has chosen View/Edit History, there will be an options to set both an Effective Date and Ineffective Date for the changes to be entered below. 
  1. Effective Date - changes will always take effect at the very beginning of the this date
  2. Ineffective Date - changes will end at the end of the this date (this is essentially the last full day that the changes are effective)
If the user wants to apply the changes to ALL orders prior to the Effective Date forward, check the "Apply to All Orders Before Effective Date" box.

If the user wants to apply the changes to ALL orders after the Ineffective Date, check the "Apply to All Orders After the Ineffective Date" box.

Next, the users choose the sale channel(s) to apply the edits to and then enters the edits. 

Checking the "Delete Existing Manually-Entered Data" box will delete allows the user to erase all previously-entered data for the product. 

Click the Checkmark to Save the edits entered above or the X to discard the edits. 


Add New Product Cost

This button allows the user to manually create a new product with all of the available product data fields. 

Default Product Cost Per Order

The Default Product Cost Per Order is applied as a backup setting in case the user has not entered any product cost values for a particular SKU.

The slider enables the user to set all unpopulated product cost values as a flat percentage of the product revenue for a given SKU. For example, if the slider is set at 50% and the product revenue for a given SKU in a particular order is $10.00, MarginDriver will apply a product cost of $5.00 (per individual unit). This value will only apply if the product cost field for a SKU has not been populated by any of the other methods described above. 

A unique Estimated Product Cost Factor can be set by sales channel and date range. 


Shipping Costs

Channel Selection

Unique shipping costs by SKU can be applied to all sales channels or to individual sales channels at the user's discretion.

Choosing All Channels from the Channel Selection menu will display all SKUs and the corresponding SKU shipping cost values for the applicable date range. These values will apply to all channels that otherwise do not have a channel-specific cost assigned to them. 

Choosing an individual sales channel will display all SKUs and the corresponding the SKU shipping cost values applicable to that sales channel and date range.

Date Range 

If the user selects View/Edit History, the date range selection tool will be available and the user can identify any date range of her choice to view existing values and/or apply edits to orders from those specific dates.

  1. All Shipping Costs

Product Table

  3. Shipping Cost - the cost to ship a single unit (product quantity of 1) of the SKU
  4. Cost Per Additional Unit - for orders with a product quantity > 1, the number of additional units is multiplied by this factor and added to the Shipping Cost to arrive at the total Shipping Cost for that SKU
  5. Weight (oz) - the weight, in ounces, of a single unit of the SKU

Edit Product

To edit any of these values for the applicable sales channels and/or date range, the user must click the edit icon .  Clicking the edit icon will display the pop up where the user can edit the SKU shipping data, including the cost. 

If the user has chosen View/Edit History, there will be an options to set both an Effective Date and Ineffective Date for the changes to be entered below.

Add New Shipping Cost

This button allows the user to manually create a new SKU with all of the available shipping data fields. 

Default Shipping Cost Per Order

The Default Shipping Cost Per Order is applied as a backup setting in case the user has not entered any product cost values for a particular SKU. The user has a choice of setting the default you as either a fixed percentage of the order's shipping revenue or a flat dollar amount per order. 


% of Revenue

This option presents the user with a slider that sets the shipping cost of any order from the applicable sales channel and date range as a percentage of the shipping revenue for that order. For example, if the slider is set at 50%, a shipping cost of $5.00 would be applied to an order with a shipping revenue of $10.00. This value will only apply if the product cost field for a SKU has not been populated by any of the other methods described above. 

Flat $ Amount Per Order

This option allows the user to set the flat shipping cost for all orders from the applicable sales channel and date range. For example, if the user enters $5.00 in the Estimated Shipping Cost field, all orders in the active filter will receive a flat shipping cost of $5.00.

In both cases, the Default Shipping Cost Per Order can be set by sales channel and date range.
